Whitecaps Sign Paulo, Heinemann, Hertzog

Major League Soccer's Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signings Wednesday of midfielder/forward Paulo, Jr. and forwards Tom Heinemann and Corey Hertzog.

Paulo had seven goals and seven assists over 43 games in all competitions at Real Salt Lake from 2010 to 2012. He was selected by Vancouver with the tenth pick in Stage 2 of last month's MLS Re-Entry Draft.

Heinemann will be reunited with Vancouver head coach Martin Rennie, who served in the same position with the North American Soccer League's Carolina RailHawks. In two seasons with MLS' Columbus Crew, he had three goals and an assist.

Hertzog, the 13th overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls, played two seasons there. He also led NCAA Division I in goals in 2010 with 20.
