Wave Winning Streak At Nine Ahead Of Blast Rematch

Luan Oliveira had a three-point goal, a two-pointer, and an assist and Josh Rife and Marcelo Fontana each had braces as the defending Major Indoor Soccer League champion Milwaukee Wave improved their winning streak to league-high-tying nine games in an 18-6 rout of the host Missouri Comets Thursday at Independence Events Center in Independence, MO.

The Wave are now in second place in the league standings at 10-2, a game behind the league-leading Baltimore Blast (12-2), who had a nine-game winning streak from November 3 to December 15, 2012.

Both teams will meet for the third time this season Saturday at US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, where the Wave won, 6-5, December 22.

Baltimore won the opening game of the series, 15-4, November 16 at First Mariner Arena.

Byron Alvarez had a brace and John Sosa added a solo goal Thursday as the Comets fell to 7-8 and in third place in the standings, 5 1/2 games behind Baltimore. Missouri travels to Hartman Arena to face the Wichita Wings Saturday.
