Wambach Named FIFA Women's Player Of The Year, Morgan Finishes Third; Sundhage Named Women's Coach Of The Year

US Women's National Team co-captain Abby Wambach was named the 2012 FIFA Women's Player of the Year award at a ceremony Monday in Zurich, Switzerland, becoming the first player to win the award since Mia Hamm won the first two awards in 2001 and 2002.

Alex Morgan finished third in the voting for Wambach's award.

Also, former head coach Pia Sundhage, now holding a similar position for Sweden's women's team, was named 2012 FIFA World Women's Coach of the Year, the first time a US coach has won the honor.

Sundhage coached the US to an 86-6-10 record in five seasons at the helm, including a 20-1-1 record in 2012.
