VSI Tampa Bay FC Signs Former Hammerhead Goalkeeper Horwath

USL PRO expansion franchise VSI Tampa Bay FC announced Sunday they have signed former Wilmington Hammerheads goalkeeper Alex Horwath, who played every minute of the regular season in 2012 and led them to the league championship game, where they lost to the defending champion Charleston Battery.

Horwath had seven shutouts last season and a 1.33 goals against average.

A former US U-17 and U-19 national team player, Horwath signed with Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City in April 2010, then also spent time that season with the San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders before signing in March 2011 with the New York Red Bulls.
