Timbers Get 2013 SuperDraft Pick By Trading Fucito To Earthquakes

The Portland Timbers will now have the 34th overall pick in Thursday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft in Indianapolis, their only pick in the two-round affair, after agreeing to trade forward Mike Fucito to the defending Supporters Shield champion San Jose Earthquakes.

Last month, Portland made a trade with Chivas USA, offering them either a second round pick in this year's draft, should they acquire one, or a 2013 international roster slot and Chivas chose the roster slot.

Fucito will join his fourth MLS team after scoring three goals and two assists over a combined 36 regular season games for the Seattle Sounders (2009-11), the Montreal Impact (2011), and Portland, who acquired him in a trade April 20, 2012 from Montreal.

At Portland, he started three of 12 regular season games.
