The Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League announced the signing Thursday of former Honduran national team and Major League Soccer defender Ivan Guerrero.
Guerrero will be reunited at Fort Lauderdale with former teammates Andy Herron and Daryl Shore, whom he played three seasons with for the Chicago Fire (2005-08).
He was named to the MLS All-Star Team and was named the Fire's Most Valuable Player in 2005, then he played for the San Jose Earthquakes and DC United.
Guerrero began his career in 1996 with Honduras first division team Club Deportivo Motagua, then moved on to play in England for Coventry Club and Club Atletico Penarol in Uruguay before joining MLS.
He played 84 times for his national team between 1999 and 2010, scoring four goals, and played in the 2000, 2005 and 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments.
