Noonan Retires As Player, Joins Galaxy As Assistant Coach

The two-time defending Major League Soccer champion Los Angeles Galaxy announced Friday the immediate resignation of Pat Noonan as a player to join head coach Bruce Arena's staff as an assistant coach.

In his ten-year playing career, Noonan scored 42 goals and assisted on 33 others, was named to the 2004 MLS All-Star Team, and led teams to five MLS Cups, winning titles with the New England Revolution in 2008 and the Galaxy to their second straight title in 2012.

He also won three Lamar Hunt US Open Cup titles -- with the Revolution in 2007 and the Seattle Sounders in 2010 and 2011.

Noonan also played 14 times for the US Men's National Team.
