Gibson Sets Single-Game Scoring Record As Comets Attack Lancers

Leo Gibson set a new Major Indoor Soccer League single-game scoring record of 17 points on two three-point goals, four two-point shots, and three assists as the host Missouri Comets pummeled the Rochester Lancers, 30-17, at Independence Events Center Saturday.

The Comets' and the league's previous highest point total this season was 24 in a 24-11 victory over the Wichita Wings January 6.

The 41 combined points were also the most in the league this season since Rochester beat Missouri, 24-17, December 1.

Mauricio Salles had a three-point goal, a two-pointer and an assist for the Lancers and Doug Miller had two goals and an assist in the loss.

Missouri, 8-9 and in third place, six games behind the Milwaukee Wave (13-2), plays at the Baltimore Blast next Saturday.

Rochester, tied with the expansion Chicago Soul for fifth place at 6-11, eight games behind the Wave, face the Blast on the road this Friday.
