Galaxy Names Kirovski First Technical Director

The two-time defending Major League Soccer champion Los Angeles Galaxy announced Thursday former player and assistant coach Jovan Kirovski has become their first technical director.

In his new role, he will scout and evaluate players locally and globally, will establish working relationship with teams around the world, and implement a core curriculum throughout the team's youth academy and evaluate its coaches and players.

After playing his first 12 years in Europe, Kirovski spent two stints with the Galaxy -- from September 2004 to the end of the 2005 season and from November 2008 to the end of the 2011 season, scoring 18 goals over 104 regular season games, and was named to the league's 2004 All-Star Team.

He also played in 62 games for the US Men's National Team, helping them qualify for the 1998, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups and playing on the 1995 Copa America, 1996 and 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and 1999 and 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup teams.
