Fire Midfielder Pardo Retires After 19-Year Career

Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire announced the retirement Saturday of midfielder Pavel Pardo after 19 seasons.

Pardo, who also played professionally in his native Mexico, where he also played on two FIFA World Cup teams, and in Germany, joined Chicago in July 2011 and helped the Fire reach the MLS Cup playoffs last season.

In 41 regular season games with the Fire, he scored two goals and assisted on nine others.
