Seattle Sounders Women Sign USMNT Player Cox

Add another player with US Women's National Team experience to the USL W-League's Seattle Sounders roster.

The team announced Wednesday it has signed defender Stephanie Cox, who has played in 81 USWNT games.

She began on the US U-19 national team, became captain of the US U-20 team at the 2006 World Championships and later played every game for the senior team at the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, helped the team win the 2008 Olympic gold medal, and played on the 2011 FIFA WWC team.

Cox played her last two seasons professionally in Women's Professional Soccer with the Los Angeles Sol, where she was allocated in 2009 and played every minute of every game, and in 2010 with the Boston Breakers, where she led the team in minutes played with 2,038 and was the only player to have over 2,000 minutes on the pitch.

During her four seasons at the University of Portland, her 2005 team went undefeated and won the NCAA College Cup title.
