Wondolowski GWG Gives Earthquakes Second Straight Central Coast Challenge Crown

For the second time in as many years, forward Chris Wondolowski hit the game-winning goal, this time in the 68th minute, as the San Jose Earthquakes won the annual Central Coast Challenge preseason game 2-1 over the Colorado Rapids Friday at Alex G. Spanos Stadium in San Luis Obispo, CA to improve their record there to 4-0-1 all-time.

Jamie Castrillion put the Rapids up 1-0 in the 13th minute off a Jefferson Angulo assist, then Colorado tied the game at 1-1 in the 32nd minute when Martin Chaves fed a pass to Khari Stephenson before Wondoloski scored the lone second-half score.

San Jose now heads to Ventura, CA Saturday for a 10-day preseason session that will include games at Oxnard Community College against the defending Major League Soccer Eastern Division champion Houston Dynamo Tuesday and the Chicago Fire next Saturday.
