A pair of goals each by Simon Bird and Corey Maret led the host Louisville Lightning to a 10-6 victory over the Kansas Magic Friday at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex and clinched a Professional Arena Soccer League playoff spot.
Darren Yeagle, Russ Hopkins, Ryan McDonald and Tee Shipalane each had a goal and an assist for Louisville, now 10-4 and a half-game behind the Detroit Waza (9-2) in the Eastern Division standings. The Lightning now host the 2-9 Ohio Vortex next Friday.
Kansas, who got a hat trick from Matt Kuba, two goals from Randall Porter and a single one from Matt Germain, is currently in third place in the Eastern standings at 5-6, four games behind Detroit.
The Magic next plays the Cincinnati Kings (5-8) at Cincinnati Gardens Saturday.
