By mutual agreement Monday, Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union and goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon parted ways, allowing him to return to his native Colombia, where he will play once again for Deportivo Cali, where he started his professional career in 1990 before going to play for numerous European teams, lastly with Cologne in Germany, before coming to MLS last January.
In 27 starts with the Union, Mondragon posted seven shutouts.
He was named to the 2011 MLS All-Star Team and finished second in voting for the league's Goalkeeper of the Year award behind winner and retired Seattle Sounders star Kasey Keller.
