Silver Knights Take Bite Out Of SharX

After seeing their season- and franchise-opening nine-game losing streak end Thursday with an 18-16 victory by the Norfolk SharX over the Rochester Lancers, a fellow New York-based Major Indoor Soccer League franchise in the host Syracuse Silver Knights defeated them 23-13 Saturday at The Oncenter at the War Memorial.

Jeffrey Hughes led the Silver Knights with two two-point goals and a pair of assists, Slavisa Ubiparipovic also scored a pair of two-pointers, and three other players tallied three points, including Marcus Chantal, who had Syracuse's only three-point goal.

The Silver Knights are in second place in the Eastern Division standings at 6-6, 2 1/2 games behind the division-leading Baltimore Blast (8-3), who hosts them at First Mariner Arena this Friday.

Cecil Lewis led the SharX, still holding the worst record in the division and the league at 1-10, with a three-point goal. Norfolk is seven games behind the Blast and returns to Rochester Monday.
