James' Error Puts Sporting Kansas City At Top Of Eastern Conference Standings

Julius James of the Columbus Crew scored a game-winning own goal for his opponent, host Sporting Kansas City, in the 74th minute of a 2-1 Major League Soccer game Wednesday at Livestrong Soccer Park in Kansas City, KS to give the franchise that started the season with a 10-game road trip and lost their first 14 games in a row the lead in the Eastern Conference standings at 11-9-11 with 44 points.

Kei Kamara opened the scoring for Kansas City in the 15th minute off a penalty kick and Columbus, winless in their last six games, tied the game in the 34th minute when Robbie Rogers found Emilio Renteria for a goal.

Sporting Kansas City next faces the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA and the Crew, in third in the Eastern standings at 11-12-8 with 41 points, hosts DC United this Sunday.
