Gyorio Game-Winner Sends FC Tampa Bay To NASL Playoffs

FC Tampa Bay captured the third of six available North American Soccer League playoff berths Tuesday as Mozzi Gyorio's 77th minute goal off a free kick gave them a 2-1 victory over host NSC Minnesota Stars at NSC Stadium in Blaine, MN.

Keith Savage opened the scoring for Tampa Bay in the 22nd minute off an Aaron King assist for the eventual 1-0 halftime lead, but Brian Kallman tied the game for the Stars with help from Luke Mulholland.

Tampa Bay, 10-8-7 with 37 points and in third place in the standings has won four of their last five road games and play their last one of the season Saturday at the Puerto Rico Islanders before concluding the regular season at home to face the Stars (September 17) and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (September 24).

NSC, clinging to the sixth spot in the standings at 7-10-8 with 29 points, five points ahead of the Montreal Impact (6-11-7, 25), host the last-place Atlanta Silverbacks Saturday.
