Chris Wondolowski, Major League Soccer's defending Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot winner, scored in the tenth minute off a Rafael Baca assist, then teamed with Khari Stephenson on Ramiro Corrales' 69th minute goal as the San Jose Earthquakes snapped a franchise record 13-game losing streak Saturday with a 2-0 shutout of the Chicago Fire at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
The victory also ended a two-game winning streak and a four-game unbeaten streak by the Fire.
San Jose is in eighth place in the Western Conference standings at 6-10-11 with 29 points and will take on the Houston Dynamo next Saturday at Robertson Stadium.
Chicago is now 4-8-15 with 27 points and in a three-way tie for last place in the Eastern Conference standings with the New England Revolution (5-11-12) and Toronto FC (5-12-12). The Fire hosts Chivas USA next Saturday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.
