Charlie Davies had a hat trick, Chris Pontius assisted on all three goals, and Dwayne De Rosario shared assisting duties on Davies' first and last goal of the night as DC United shut out Chivas USA 3-0 in Major League Soccer play Saturday at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.
DC United is currently 8-7-10 with 34 points and in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind the Houston Dynamo (8-9-11, 35) for fourth place and three behind the Philadelphia Union (8-7-12, 36), who played to a scoreless draw with the Portland Timbers Saturday, for third place. DC travels to CenturyLink Field next Saturday to face the Seattle Sounders.
Chivas is 7-11-10 with 31 points and is in seventh place in the Western Conference standings, three behind the Timbers (9-12-6, 33) for sixth place. Chivas will face the Eastern Conference's Chicago Fire next Saturday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.
