Budnyy Becoming A Silver Knight In Syracuse

The Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League announced the signing Friday of Ukranian-born forward Andriy Budnyy, who spent the 2011 USL PRO season with the Wilmington Hammerheads, where he was fourth on the team in scoring with 22 points in 20 regular season games (eight goals, six assists).

He began his soccer career in the US with the Cascade Surge of the USL Premiere Development League (2004-05), then moved up to USL First Division in 2006 with the Charlotte Eagles.

After the Eagles, he returned to his native country and played two seasons with Obolon Kviy, where he had a combined 28 goals, before returning to the States and playing for the Caroin RailHawks, who loaned him to Wilmington in 2009.
