According to the votes of Major League Soccer fans this week, Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman and Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen were named Friday winners of the AT&T Goal of the Week and MLS Save of the Week competitions for Week 25 of the 2011 season.
Beckerman's 25-yard blast for a goal in a game against the Philadelphia Union was liked by exactly half of those fans who voted either online or by texting.
Sebastien Le Toux of the Philadelphia Union was a distant second in the voting at 18 percent, followed by Julio Cesar of Sporting Kansas City (16 percent), Sean Franklin of the Los Angeles Galaxy (10 percent) and Chris Schuler, also of RSL (six percent).
Nielsen won the Save of the Week crown for the third time this season -- the most of any goalkeeper -- with 48.15 percent of the vote over two contenders from the Union, starter Faryd Mondragon (47.74 percent) and backup Zac MacMath (9.11 percent).
Nielsen previously won in Weeks 19 and 21.
