Chad Barrett scored the game's only goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time as the Los Angeles Galaxy clinched the 2011 Major League Soccer Supporters Shield title with a league and Western Conference-best record of 17-3-10 and 61 points after shutting out the Columbus Crew 1-0 Saturday at Crew Stadium.
The Galaxy next host Mexico's Morelia at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA in the fifth game of Group A play in the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League tournament Tuesday, then return to MLS play at home next Saturday against the 2009 MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake.
The Crew are now 11-11-8 with 41 points and tied for second place in the Eastern Conference standings with Sporting Kansas City (10-9-11), who they will face this Wednesday at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, KS.
