Long Tan scored the game-winning goal in the 57th minute off assists from Nizar Khalfan and Philippe Davies to give the host Vancouver Whitecaps a 2-1 upset victory over the Seattle Sounders to snap their seven-game unbeaten streak in the Major League Soccer Reserve League Tuesday at Swangard Stadium.
Vancouver, who snapped their own five-game winless streak, opened the scoring in the 21st minute as Davide Chiumiento fed a pass to Michael Nanchoff that stood as the halftime score.
Seattle's Nate Jaqua tied thegame at 1-1 in the 53rd minute after Lamar Neagle and Migeul Montaro contributed to the goal.
Vancouver, 1-3-2 wth five points and tied with Chivas USA (1-2-2) for fourth place in the West Division, next plays August 21 at JELD-WEN Field in Portland, OR against the Portland Timbers.
Seattle, who lead the division at 7-1-0 with 21 points and who could've clinched the divsion title with a win, will have a long time before their next chance to do that happens as they play October 11 at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA against the San Jose Earthquakes.
