Wambach Wins POTW For Second Time In 2011, Record Seventh Time In WPS

After scoring two goals each in wins over Sky Blue FC and the Boston Breakers to clinch third place in the Women's Professional Soccer standings and earn a playoff berth, magicJack FC player-coach Abby Wambach was named the league's Player of the Week for Week 17 of the 2011 season and winner of the award for a league-record seventh time.

She previously took home the award after Week 8 play this season.

Despite the time she has been away from the team, due to commitments with the US Women's National Team, Wambach has scored nine goals in 11 games, putting her two behind Western New York Flash forward Christine Sinclair (10 goals) for the league's Golden Boot award.
