USL PDL Begins Championship Weekend Events With Naming Of All-Conference Teams

The USL Premier Development League kicked off its 2011 Championship Weekend events Monday with the announcement of this season's four All-Conference Teams, selected in voting by team management.

The 2011 PDL Championship Tournament presented by Umbro will take place Friday and Saturday at Bremerton, WA's Bremerton Memorial Stadium, home of the Kitsap Pumas, and will feature the Southern Conference champion Laredo Heat meeting the Eastern Conference Champion Long Island Rough Riders in the first of two semifinal games, with the host Pumas, the Western Conference Champions, facing the Central Conference Champion Thunder Bay Chill.

The league will announce the members of the 2011 All-League Team Tuesday, followed by the announcement Wednesday of the finalists for Coach, Defender and Rookie of the Year as well as for Most Valuable Player, all to be awarded at the annual Championship Banquet Thursday along with Goalkeeper of the Year, announced that night.
