Two Titles Down, One To Go For Orlando City As They Edge Battery

Orlando City Soccer Club officially claimed the USL PRO's regular season championship and the American Division Championship for the 2011 season with a 2-1 victory over the Charleston Battery Saturday at Orlando Citrus Bowl Field.

Orlando City, 14-3-6 with 48 points, took a 2-0 lead on a Yordany Alvarez goal off a Jerome Mecheck assist in the 22nd minute and an unassisted Jamie Watson play in the 65th minute.

Charleston cut the lead in half in the 84th on an Dane Kelly goal off Jon Gruenewald.

Orlando City will close out the home and regular season schedule next Friday against the Harrisburg City Islanders.

The Battery, 9-9-5 with 32 points and in fifth place in the American Division, two points behind the Charlotte Eagles (9-7-6, 33) for fourth place. Both teams meet in Charleston in their home and regular season finale next Friday at Blackbaud Stadium.
