Toronto FC Ends First Round Of CCL Group Phase With MLS' Fifth Straight Win

Ryan Johnson and Julian de Guzman scored nearly back-to-back unassisted goals in the 22nd and 24th minute as Toronto FC, the last of five Major League Soccer teams competing in the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League tournament, won their introductory Group C match 2-1 Thursday over Panama's Tauro at Rominel Fernandez Stadium in Panama City.

Joining Toronto from MLS in the 16-team field are the defending champion Colorado Rapids, the Los Angeles Galaxy, Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas.

Toronto also extended its own unbeaten streak in all competitions this season to six games (4-0-2).

Luis Moreno cut Toronto's lead in half with his unassisted 76th minute play.

Toronto FC returns to MLS play Sunday when they travel to Bridgeview, IL's Toyota Park before hosting their next CCL opponent, FC Dallas, Tuesday at BMO Field.
