Timbers Melt Down Whitecaps In Cascadia Cup Play

Diego Chara scored in the second minute of the game and Jorge Perlaza doubled his team's lead in the 33rd minute as the host Portland Timbers edged the worst team in Major League Soccer, the Vancouver Whitecaps, 2-1 Saturday in another game of the three-team Cascadia Cup series at JELD-WEN Field.

The other team in the series is the Seattle Sounders.

Camilo cut the Portland lead down to one with his unassisted 88th minute goal.

Portland is now 8-12-5 with 29 points and is in seventh place in the Western Conference standings. The Timbers have two games on their schedule this coming week -- hosting Chivas USA Wednesday, then traveling to DC United next Saturday.

Vancouver is 3-13-9 with 18 points and will host the Houston Dynamo Saturday at Empire Field.
