Roger Espinosa and Teal Bunbury had unassisted goals in the 29th and 34th minute as Sporting Kansas City continued their unbeaten streak at new Livestrong Sporting Park and extended their overall unbeaten streak to 14 games as they shut out Real Salt Lake 2-0 Wednesday in Major League Soccer play.
Sporting Kansas City, once at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings during a 10-game road trip to start the season due to stadium construction, is now 7-6-9 with 30 points and tied for third place in the conference with the New York Red Bulls (6-5-12). SKC will host the Seattle Sounders Saturday.
Real Salt Lake, who have lost two straight games, is now 9-5-6 with 33 points and is in fifth place in the Western Conference, two points behind the defending league champion Colorado Rapids (8-6-10, 34) for fourth place. RSL welcomes the Red Bulls to Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT Saturday.
