Pumas To Host Heat In USL PDL Championship Game Saturday In Bremerton, WA

The 2011 USL Premier Development League Championship game will be held Saturday at Bremerton Memorial Stadium in Bremerton, WA and will feature the hometown Kitsap Pumas, champions of the Western Conference, and the Laredo Heat, champions of the Southern Conference.

In tournament semifinal games held Friday, the Heat defeated the Eastern Conference champion Long Island Rough Riders and, in the nightcap, the Pumas beat the Central Conference champion Thunder Bay Chill.

Esteban Bayona led the Heat with a 38th minute goal off Emmanuel Frias and assisted on goals in the 85th and 90th minute by Daniel Lopez and Albert Escovar, respectively, and Placide Budun connected with Juan de Dios Ibarra on his 64th minute goal.

Long Island's goal came in the 69th minute off an Adriano Gabriele penalty kick.

Matt Friesen had an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute and a penalty kick goal eight minutes later for the Pumas and Brian Burke tied the game at 1-1 at the hour mark with a score off a Robby Christner assist.

Thunder Bay led at halftime 1-0 after Gustavo Oliveira made an unassisted goal in the 34th minute.
