MISL's 2011-12 Season To Start November 3

The Major Indoor Soccer League, now run as a part of United Soccer Leagues after merging with that league's planned I-League, announced Monday their 2011-12 season will kick off November 3 when the Wichita Wings will host the Missouri Comets.

The MISL will have eight teams in two divisions this season -- the Eastern (Baltimore Blast, Norfolk SharX, Rochester Lancers and Syracuse Silver Knights) and the Central (unnamed team in Chicago announced Monday), the defending league champion Milwaukee Wave, Missouri Comets and Wichita Wings).

Teams will play a 24-game regular season from November 3, 2011 to March 4, 2012 -- 16 games against teams in their own division, eight in the opposing division.

The league also announced the full list of home openers for all teams, but will release the full 2011-12 season schedule next week:

- November 3: Missouri Comets @ Wichita Wings
- November 4: Rochester Lancers @ Syracuse Silver Knights
- November 4: Wichita Wings @ Missouri Comets
- November 11: Syracuse Silver Knights @ Norfolk SharX
- November 12: Syracuse Silver Knights @Baltimore Blast
- November 13: Wichita Wings @ Milwaukee Wave
- November 19: Syracuse Silver Knights @ Rochester Lancers
- November 27: Milwaukee Wave @ Chicago

The top two teams in each division will qualify for the league's playoffs and will meet the weekend of March 9-11 in a home-and-home series with a mini game, if needed, after the second game, should the series end in a 1-1 tie.

Winners will face off the weekend of March 16-18 in a similar Championship Series format with the higher seeded team choosing which game they will host.
