Veronica Boquete scored the game's lone goal unassisted in the 62nd minute as the host Philadelphia Independence regained sole possession of the top spot in the Women's Professional Soccer standings after shutting out the league's worst team for a second straight season, the Atlanta Beat, 1-0 Sunday at Leslie C. Quick Stadium at Widener University in Philadelphia, PA.
The Independence are now 10-3-3 with 33 points and have already clinched a playoff berth, but now have locked up a home playoff game. Philadelphia next hosts Sky Blue FC this Sunday.
Atlanta is 1-11-4 with seven points and will host the expansion Western New York Flash Saturday at KSU Soccer Stadium.
