Fighting to earn a playoff spot in the next few days of the 2011 season in USL PRO, FC New York Monday signed Trinidadian goalkeeper Thorne Holder and Haitian forward Bony Pierre to contracts for the rest of the league's inaugural season.
Holder was recently released by Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union after they signed him as a free agent out of Adelphia University this March.
He did not play in any regular season MLS games for the Union, but did play four times in matches in the MLS Reserve League and played the second half of an exhibition game against Everton of the English Premier League.
Holder was on the Trinidad & Tobago 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying team in 2005 and also started for the U-23 2006 Olympic pool.
