Jhonny Arteaga, helped by Tadeu Terra and Don Smart in the 17th minute, and Christian Turizo in the 43rd minute scored goals as FC New York, despite not qualifying for a USL PRO playoff spot from the National Division, stunned the National-leading Rochester Rhinos 2-1 Sunday in New York's home season finale at Belson Stadium at St. John's University in Queens, NY.
Issac Kissi prevented a New York shutout by scoring unassisted in the 71st minute.
FC New York is in fifth place in the National Division with a 5-11-7 record and 22 points and will end its 2011 campaign Wednesday at Miami Valley South Stadium against the worst team in USL PRO, the Dayton Dutch Lions.
The Rhinos, guaranteed one of four playoff spots from the division, leads the National Division at 11-8-4 wuth 37 points, three ahead of the Harrisburg City Islanders (9-6-7, 34).
Rochester's home and 2011 regular season finale is Saturday at Sahlen's Stadium against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
