Playing at a record kickoff temperature at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX of 102 degrees, Marvin Chavez scored the lone goal of the game off a Ruben Luna assist as FC Dallas shut out Chivas USA 1-0 in Major League Soccer play Sunday.
The win stretched Dallas' unbeaten streak to five games and it was their eighth shutouts in their last nine games, as well as the 12th shutout recorded by goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.
Dallas is now 12-5-6 with 42 points and in second place behing the defending Western Conference regular season champion and Supporters Shield-leading Los Angeles Galaxy (12-2-9, 45), who hosts them Saturday at The Home Depot Center.
Chivas, in sixth place in the conference at 6-8-8 with 26 points, will travel to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA Saturday to face the New England Revolution.
