Major League Soccer's DC United announced they have signed defender Brandon McDonald, who joined the team in June from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money, to a new contract.
Since joining United, he has been part of four shutouts over nine games.
In 2 1/2 seasons with the Earthquakes, McDonald started 54 of 58 games.
McDonald was drafted 46th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the Los Angeles Galaxy and played 16 games that season before joining the Earthquakes in 2009.
