Whitecaps Sign Gambian F Jarju As Designated Player

Major League Soccer's Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signing Tuesday of the team's second Designated Player in Gambian forward Mustapha Jarju, nicknamed Toubabo.

Jarju scored 43 goals in 118 games over three seasons for RAEC de Mons in Belgium, with 25 of the goals coming in the 2010-11 season as he helped the team get promoted to Belgium's top league, the Jupiter League. He also had 13 assists for them that season.

He played 25 times for his national team as a midfielder, scoring four goals in the process.
