USMNT Adds Another Home Friendly Game September 2 Against Costa Rica

The US Men's National Team announced Tuesday they will host Costa Rica in an international friendly game September 2 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

The news of this game comes days after announcing the USMNT would play its first road international friendly September 6 in Brussels against Belgium.

Since 1975, in friendly competitions, both teams share an 11-11-6 record, but the teams have played each other sixteen times since, mostly in either CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying (12 times) or the CONCACAF Gold Cup (four times).

The last time the two teams met in any competition was during qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where the US eliminated Costa Rica from qualifying and forcing them to win a play-in series after a 2-2 draw.

The last international friendly game between them was a 2-1 loss to Costa Rica May 29, 1995 in Tampa, FL.
