USL W-League Announces Playoff Matchups

The USL W-League announced Monday the schedule for playoff games leading up to the league's four-team Championship Weekend July 29-31 at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA , home to the Seattle Sounders, who earn au automatic berth in the field due to their hosting of the tournament.

On Thursday at Charlotte Christian Stadium in Charleston, SC, the host Eagles (6-2-2, 20 points), who finished second in the Atlantic Division, will face the Northeast Division champion Long Island Rough Riders (7-1-2, 25 points) in the first of two Eastern Conference semifinal games.

In the second game, the Atlanta Silverbacks (9-0-1, 28 points), winner of the Atlantic Divison, will take on the New Jersey Wildcats, who were second in the Northeast Division (6-1-3 21 points). Winners of these games meet Saturday for the Eastern Conference's slot in the tournament.

On Saturday at the Algonquin College Soccer Complex, the 2011 regular season champion Ottawa Fury, who went undefeated at 12-0-0, will take on the fourth-seeded Toronto Lady Lynx (5-9-2, 17 points) in the first game of their doubleheader and will take on the winner of the second matchup between the third seed Quebec City Amiral (6-5-1, 19 points) and the second-seeded Laval Comets (6-4-2, 12, points) Sunday.

In the Western Conference championship game Sunday, the Santa Clarita Blue Heat, who led the conference at 8-1-3 with 29 points, face the second-seed Whitecaps FC (8-2-4, 28 points), with the winner heading for Seattle.
