US, Jamaica Drawn Into Group A For CONCACAF Semfinal Qualifying For 2014 FIFA World Cup

The United States and Jamaica saw their men's national soccer teams placed in Group A for the semifinal round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil as a Preliminary Round Draw was held Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Two other teams will join the US and Jamaica in the group -- the winners of Group E (Grenada, Guatemala, St. Vincent and the Grenadines or Belize) and Group F (Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, Curacao or the US Virgin Islands), both to be announced in November, when their qualification round ends.

When the four teams are officially named, they will compete from June 8 to October 16, 2012 against each other in six games (home-and-home against all other opponents), with the top two teams in the pool earning spots in the 32-team 2014 field.

As host country, Brazil automatically qualifies for a spot.
