Joao Plata scored on a 51st minute penalty kick and assisted Mikael Yourassowsky on the game-winning 61st minute goal as Major League Soccer's Toronto FC defeated fellow league member Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 Saturday in the second leg of the Nutrilile Canadian Championship at BMO Field, winning their third straight title by a 3-2 aggregate score.
Camilo put the Whitecaps on top in the 21st minute with an unassisted goal.
Toronto FC will now represent Canada in the preliminary round of the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League and will face Real Esteli of Nicaragua in a two-leg, aggregate-goal series for a spot in Group C of the tournament field.
Toronto will host the first game July 27 at BMO Field, then travels to Nicaragua for the second leg August 2.
