Top Two In Northeast Division Tie; Face Off Again Saturday

Host MPS Portland Phoenix and the Western Mass Pioneers, the top two teams in the USL Premier Development League's Eastern Conference - Northeast Division, played to a 1-1 draw Sunday at the Phoenix's Memorial Field at Deering High School, but the Phoenix won the division's regular season title wih a 7-2-5 record and 26 points.

The Pioneers went up 1-0 in the 14th minute as James Mooney fed a pass to Chris Roswess, but the Phoenix countered in the 81st minute as Parker Duncan connected with Charlie Rugg and both teams settled for a single point in the standings.

Western Mass is 6-4-4 with 22 points.

Both teams will end their respective seasons Saturday when the Phoenix host the Pioneers at Scarborough High School.
