Strikers Sign Goalkeeper Glaeser To Contract Extension

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League announced the signing Tuesday of goalkeeper Matt Glaeser to a contract extension through the 2012 season with an option for 2013.

Glaeser, who joined the team, then called Miami FC Blues, in 2010, is third in the league in goals against average at 1.00 and, in the month of June, had two shutouts and gave up four goals over five games. He is also tied for second in the league in shutouts with four.

In games Glaeser has played this season, he has gone 2-1-6.

Glaeser, who grew up in Virginia, played collegiately between James Madison University and the University of Hartford, where he was named the America East Conference Player of the Year at his position.

Before coming to the Strikers, he played in USL Second Division for the Western Mass Pioneers (now playing in the USL Premier Development League) and in Finland for Pallo-Iirot.
