Sounders Unbeaten Streak At Nine After Riding Rapids

The Seattle Sounders increased their current unbeaten streak to nine games as they outplayed the defending Major League Soccer champion Colorado Rapids 4-3 Saturday at CenturyLink Field.

Fredy Montero and Mauro Rosales each had a goal and an assist and Roger Levesque and Alvaro Fernandez added goals for the Sounders, now 10-4-8 with 38 points, two points behind the idle Los Angeles Galaxy for the Western Conference lead and the league's best record. Seattle next plays at the Houston Dynamo July 30.

Wells Thompson, Jeff Larentowicz and Caleb Forlan tallied goals for the Rapids, 6-6-9 with 27 points and in fifth place in the Western standings. Colorado host the New York Red Bulls Wednesday and the New England Revolution next Saturday, both at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
