SKC Unbeaten Streak At Eight After Chopping Down Timbers

Sporting Kansas City, who started the 2011 Major League Soccer season by losing nine games of a season-record 10-game road trip, improved their current unbeaten streak to eight games and have now won four of their last five games with a 2-1 defeat of the Portland Timbers Saturday at JELD-WEN Field.

C.J. Sapong scored in the 15th minute off Omar Bravo, then assisted Aurelian Collin on a goal four minutes later for Kansas City, now fourth in the Eastern Conference standings at 5-6-5 with 20 points, hosts the defending league champion Colorado Rapids at Livestrong Sporting Park Wednesday.

Darlington Nagbe had Portland's lone score in the 45th minute and the Timbers are now 5-8-3 with 18 points and tied with Chivas USA (4-7-6) for seventh in the Western Conference standings. Portland will host the Seattle Sounders next Saturday.
