Graham Zusi's unassisted 62nd minute goal allowed host Sporting Kansas City to play the defending Major League Soccer champion Colorado Rapids to a 1-1 draw Wednesday at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, KS and extended their unbeaten streak to nine games.
Conor Casey put the Rapids up 1-0 in the 32nd minute on a goal assisted by Tyrone Marshall.
Kansas City has been steadily climbing the ladder from the cellar of the Eastern Conference to a current 6-6-6 record, 21 points and a fourth place spot in the standings. They will next take on Chivas USA Saturday at The Home Depot Center.
Colorado is 5-5-9 with 24 points and is in fifth place in the Western Conference standings, four points behind Real Salt Lake (7-3-6, 27) for sole possession of third place in the table. Colorado hosts the worst team in the league, the Vancouver Whitecaps, Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
