RSL's Saborio, Earthquakes' Busch Hit With Punishment From MLS Disciplinary Committee

The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee announced Friday Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio was fined $1,000 and suspended from this Saturday's game against the Columbus Crew after he put a game against the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday in disrepute by faking an injury in the 61st minute of play.

The referee bought Saborio's injury and issued a penalty kick for Real Salt Lake, which they converted. He also handed San Jose's Bobby Convey a red card for the supposed injury, which means he is ineligible to play this Saturday when tney host DC United at Buck Shaw Stadium. The ejection also comes with an automatic $500 fine.

Also, from the same game, Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch was fined $500 for making an obscene gesture to the referee.
