Sterline Flunder and Stefan Lundberg had unassisted goals in the 59th and 83rd minute as the host Pittsburgh Riverhounds edged FC New York 2-1 Saturday in USL PRO National Division play at Chartiers Valley High School in the first game of a two-game series.
Jhonny Arteags prevented a shutout for New York with an 85th minute unassisted goal.
Both teams will meet again next Saturday at Belson Stadium at St. John's University.
Pittsburgh is currently 5-9-4 with 19 points and is tied with the Los Angeles Blues (5-4-4) for third place, while FC New York is fifth at 4-8-5 with 17 points.
