The leading scorer for Major League Soccer's defending champion Colorado Rapids, forward Conor Casey, will miss the remainder of the 2011 season after an MRI determined he will need surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon suffered in Saturday's game against the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field.
The surgical procedure will take place Wednesday and recovery time is generally eight to 10 months.
He previously missed six games this season due to a strained hamstring.
