Colton O'Neill assisted on Juan Pablo Mora Perea's 19th minute goal, then did so for Danfi Fisher on the game-winning goal at halftime as the Abbotsford Mariners upset the defending USL Premier Development League champion Portland Timbers U-23 2-1 at Portland's Doc Harris High School Stadium Friday.
Brent Richards had Portland's goal on a game-tying 38th minute penalty kick.
The Mariners (5-6-2, 17 points) are tied with the Timbers (5-5-2) for fourth place in the Western Conference's Northwest Division, four points behind the Victoria Highlanders and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, both at 6-4-2 with 20 points, for sole possession of second place in the division. Abbotsford will travel to the Tacoma Tide Sunday at Curtis High School.
Portland hosts the Whitecaps Sunday at Hare Field.
